What is blaspheming?

Blaspheming is taking the name of the Lord God in vain, mishandling His Holy name, disrespecting God, and is a sin against God Himself.

When we sin, we are not sinning against other men, or ourselves, no, sin is against God Himself. Know that all sin is sin against God.

Did you take the name of the Lord in vain today? Are you sure?

Using the name of God when swearing is blasphemy. Swearing is to use profane or obscene language.

When you say the words “Oh my God” are you praying or worshiping God?

If you are not praying or worshiping God, or addressing God, when you use that phrase, you are taking the name of the Lord in vain. You are using the name of God irreverently. You are blaspheming.

Whenever you use the precious Holy name of our Lord inappropriately, irreverently you are blaspheming.

God is Holy. God's name is Holy. God's Holy name is NOT to be used as an adjective to describe something!

When you use the name of God, other than in teaching, or worship and prayer, or communicating with God, or in any way irreverent, you are blaspheming and taking the name of God in vain.

God is our Heavenly Father, our most precious God, our Saviour, the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of all things, Jesus Christ who died for our sins, so we can live in His loving care forever.

Our Lord God’s holy, beautiful and precious name is being misused as an adjective to express delight or dismay about everything from the color of someone’s car to the smell of food.

Taking the Lord's name in vain is appalling and needs to be stopped!

Secular expressions that are used in the world to defame, ridicule, belittle and blaspheme our Lord God's Holy precious name, should NOT be tolerated by believers of Jesus Christ.

As believers, we should NOT condone such sayings and we should never use the devil's language like the lost of the world.

We are NOT the lost of the world, we are believers of God the Almighty, we need to start acting like it! We need to take a stand for our LORD!

We as believers are the children of God, and we should stand up for our Father, our God, who we worship, our God who we love, and our God with who we have the eternal hope of salvation and everlasting life.

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.Mark 8:38

We must educate each other.

Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? They that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.Isaiah 52:5

God knows everything. God knows that His name continually and everyday is blasphemed.

When someone takes the name of our Lord God in vain, when we hear someone blaspheme our most High God and precious Saviour, use His name as garbage, defile His name, we as the children of God must stand up and tell these people that we are not going to stand for it, we are not going to take it anymore.

Stand up for your God, your Saviour, the one who made you whole, the one who saved you from sin and death.

Don't let the devil or people belittle or take anything away from the name of your Lord God in Heaven.

We need to say, "you can't say that about my Lord God", "I won't stand for blaspheming of my Lord and Saviour", "My Lord God is the most treasured name in my life, please refrain from using His name in vain". Saying anything is better than saying nothing. When we say nothing, they think we believe as they do, that it's okay to use the name of the Lord God in vain.

Counter blaspheme with praise

Some times we are unable to say anything directly to the person blaspheming, maybe we are too far away from the source of the blasphemy. What I like to do in these cases is to give a shout out to God, I like to say, "Praise the Lord God", "Jesus is Lord", "Bless His Holy name". I like to counter the blaspheme of others, with a praise to the Most High God. Maybe I am just being silly, but I think that my "Halleluiah! Jesus is Lord", or "Praise the Lord", cancels out their blasphemy, it does in my heart anyway.

We need to stop being foolish and disrespectful.

Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
Psalm 74:18

We need to grow up and realize what we are saying.

Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.1 Timothy 6:1

1. A commitment of meeting once a week for at least an hour in person.
2. Place of meeting should be public or at the church if possible. A positive environment.
3. Teaching the doctrine of Christ as laid out in the Old n New Testament
4. Teaching out reach, Being prepared to give gospel tracts or just sharing their faith
5. Teaching the model prayer life. Praying for and with each other.
6. Accountability: Asking the questions like " is this the center of what God would want you to do or say?"
7. Knowing that someone will ask about the conduct that best motivates us to be good stewards
8. Know we are answerable to others, we are in position for promotion. A review of ones walk in the word.
9. Confessing our sins with each other and being ready to lay hands and pray with the teachable.
10. One hour minimum. The first 11 weeks will be mandatory that your in person. Phone, email texting does not count.

Video conferencing is fine and encouraged.

The result; Being responsible to others challenges us to maintain high standards, Godly convictions a transparent heart and trustworthy character.

Last Week we talked about the wounds that we carry as men, the wounds of our parents and siblings or even friends. Realizing the wounds helps us realize what scars we carry. Scars of our battles may be physical for some of us, but emotional for others. It's always spiritual as paul writes...

Are taking your spiritual warfare seriously?
Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Our battles are won on our knees!

Will you fight back? Realizing it's a war against ourselves and we need deliverance from ourselves is essential for our growth.

Think back to your latest engagement of a battle you endured this week...

It might be in a form of a thought or even an action. Perhaps you were tempted beyond self-control. The idea is to realize the battle and know your in it 24/7. We're in this war together. Your not alone! So being transparent about your battles helps deploy forces against the enemy because you confess your weakness before God and other men struggling with the same issues and by the way it allows us to pray for you. This is true spiritual healing.

1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Jas 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

This week we are going to talk about the Adventure to Live as a warrior for God.

Some questions to ponder.

1. Your life career or life choices, What has guided you more what the world needs or what makes you come alive?

2. Is Christianity a great adventure for you? Why or why not?

3. When a man plays it safe is he confessing that he doesn't trust God?

4. What adventures is God calling you to do? Are they ones that you can't do alone?

Jas 1:6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

How's your faith been lately? Ever been tossed or driven around by circumstances out of your control? How did you react to it?

Lets take Moses. A man chosen by God to lead about One Million head of households through the desert. I don't think he realized what God had instore for him. I mean, would you sign up for a mission of 38 years of wandering in the desert with a bunch of cry babies. I think it would be hard for me to say, "HERE I AM LORD, USE ME"! If I knew the details. A lot of times when God uses us he doesn't fill us in on how he wants to use us for His glory. I call this the "unexpected".

It doesn't matter how old you are or how young you are, there is one lesson we all must learn in life. God can't do the unexpected with our lives until we do what he says. Even if doing what he says doesn't make things work as we expect them to. Even if doing what he says doesn't seem to make sense. Don't doubt, just have faith in God. Trust Him.

There is a cost when our faith wains. Moses was sentenced to death without ever occupying the Promise Land. His punishment for not following God's orders on how to bring forth water for the people. He was told to SPEAK to the rock and water would come forth. But instead he struck the rock to bring forth water.

Deu 32:49-52 "Go up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession.

"Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people,
because you broke faith with Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, because you did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel.
"For you shall see the land at a distance, but you shall not go there, into the land which I am giving the sons of Israel."

God is not trying to increase our abilities. He is trying to produce faith in him regardless of our abilities. That is where life with God begins. Life begins with a step-by-step faith as we obey the will of God. A life of faith doesn't require that we see the end from the beginning. Faith only requires us to take the step God instructs us to take.

Don't give up your Promise Land. Live under His commandments, forsake your sinful nature. Pray Psalm 51 out loud before the Lord. Be Battle Ready to speak the things of God to another.

How to Confront Sinners

When David sinned with Bathsheba, he broke all of the Ten Commandments. He coveted his neighbor’s wife, lived a lie, stole her, committed adultery, murdered her husband, dishonored his parents, and thus broke the remaining four Commandments by dishonoring God. Therefore, the Lord sent Nathan the prophet to reprove him (2 Samuel 12:1–14).

There is great significance in the order in which the reproof came. Nathan gave David (the shepherd of Israel) a parable about something that David could understand— sheep. He began with the natural realm, rather than immediately exposing the king’s sin. He told a story about a rich man who, instead of taking a sheep from his own flock, killed a poor man’s pet lamb to feed a stranger. David was indignant, and sat up on his high throne of self-righteousness. He revealed his knowledge of the Law by declaring that the guilty party must restore fourfold and must die for his crime. Nathan then exposed the king’s sin of taking another man’s "lamb," saying, "You are the man...Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight?" When David cried, "I have sinned against the Lord," the prophet then gave him grace and said, "The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die."

Imagine if Nathan, fearful of rejection, changed things around a little, and instead told David, "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. However, there is something that is keeping you from enjoying this wonderful plan; it is called ‘sin.’" Imagine if he had glossed over the personal nature of David’s sin, with a general reference to all men having sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. David’s reaction may have been, "What sin are you talking about?" rather than to admit his terrible transgression. Think of it — why should he cry, "I have sinned against the Lord" at the sound of that message? Instead, he may have, in a sincere desire to experience this "wonderful plan," admitted that he, like all men, had sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

If David had not been made to tremble under the wrath of the Law, the prophet would have removed the very means of producing godly sorrow, which was so necessary for David’s repentance. It is "godly sorrow" that produces repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10). It was the weight of David’s guilt that caused him to cry out, "I have sinned against the Lord." The Law caused him to labor and become heavy laden; it made him hunger and thirst for righteousness. It enlightened him as to the serious nature of sin as far as God was concerned.

You can Learn a lot from a DUMMY

Years ago, a television advertisement had a deep-voiced commentator ask the sobering question, "What goes through the mind of a driver at the moment of impact in a head-on collision if he's not wearing a seat belt?" As he spoke, they showed a dummy without a seat belt, reacting in slow motion to a head-on collision. As the dummy moved forward on impact, the steering wheel went right through its skull. Then the commentator somberly continued, "... the steering-wheel. You can learn a lot from a dummy. Buckle up!"

How could the censors allow such a fear tactics? This advertisement struck trepidation in the hearts of motorists. The reson is clear: they were speaking the truth. It is a fearful thing to be in a head-on collision when your not wearing a seat belt.

What you are sharing with people is the gospel truth. The Bible warns, "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." It is right that they should fear, because they are in danger of eternal dmanation. They are going to collide head-on with God's Law. Let Judgement Day play out before their eyes in slow motion.

The Will To Live

Millions of People spend dozens of hours each week watching dead people on TV. Think about the actors from Elvis, Ronald Reagan to Jimmy Stewart and my favorite John Wayne, faces of folks that no longer exist to entertain us. Time not only snatched their looks, but it snatched their lives from this existence.
Hollywood today is filled with good-looking stars making movies so that tomorrow's generation can also pass time by watching dead people on TV.
Time makes today tomorrow's memory. Each weekend seems to pass us by like blurred telephones poles flashing past the window of the speeding train of life.
If I purchased a new car and saw in the owner's manual that it had a certain type of engine, I shouldn't be surprised to lift the hood and find the engine to be exactly as the manual stated. The maker's handbook gives me insight into the unseen workings of the vehicle. This is also true with human beings. The Maker's manual tells us how each of use thinks and why we react the way we do. It lifts the hood and reveals the inner working of homo sapiens.
In doing so, the Bible discloses an often-overlooked tool that we can use to reach the lost. That tool is the fear of death. For the Christian who may find such an approach to be negative, it may be looked at in a positive light as well. The tool may also be call " The Will to Live". Every human being in his right mind has a fear of death (Heb 2:15). He doesn't want to die. He sits wide-eyed, staring out the window of the speeding train watching life pass him by.
It sickens me that we do so little to reach the lost. It also deeply concerns me that I have dry eyes when I pray. My train will eventually take me to the throne of God. For those trusting Jesus Christ, death has been defeated. But the train of the lost will take them to a horrific disaster. Their end will be eternal hell. In light of such terrible thoughts, all my activities outside of warning the world of their destination seem trivial.
It has been wisely stated that each person is unique. In truth, each unique individual is uniquely predictable. Every sinner has a fear of death. No one can deny that he naturally has a will to live. Therefore, it makes sense to confront him with reality by reminding him that he has an appointment to keep. Bluntly tell him how many weekends he has left.

Here's how to use that tool when speaking to an unsaved person: Let's assume that the average person dies at 70 years old. Then if you are 20 years old, you have just 2500 weekends left to live. If you have turned 30 you have 2000 weekends left until the day you die. If your 40 years old, you have only 1500 weekends left. If your 50, then you have just 1000 weekends and if your 60 you have a mere 500 weekends left until the day death comes to you. Even as a Christian that thought concerns me, I somehow can relate to "weekends", while years put death into the distance. It shakes me enough to ask myself, "What I am doing with my life?".

Evangelism Practice: Rehearse In Front of Mirror and Practice with New Tracts

Homework Assignment for 03/02/10 Meeting:
From 'The Way Of The Master Part III Homework" -

Stand in front of a mirror. Make sure no one is around or can hear you. Look directly at your image and ask a friendly, “How are you doing?” Of course, you are going to feel a little foolish, but no one is watching except God. Then ask, “Did you get one of these?” Offer your reflection a tract, saying, “It’s a gospel tract. Do you have a Christian background?” Then inquire, “What do you think happens after someone dies? Do you believe in heaven and hell?” Continue asking these questions until you shake off any self-consciousness. Get used to the sound of your own voice. Remember, you’re not a weirdo and you don’t sound like one. You are a warm and friendly Christian who genuinely cares about people. Keep practicing saying these things until it feels natural. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, repeat it again and again until you do.

Real-World Application: Carry tracts (Practice with the Great Tools Mark gave us last Tuesday). with you as you go through the week, leaving tracts where people will find them. For example, the IQ Cards fir great in any credit card slot. Every time you go to a gas station, leave a tract in the credit card slot at the pump. The next person will have to take it out to put his credit card in, and will appreciate having something to read while he’s filling his gas tank. Place one in the ATM machine before you leave. Every time you go to the grocery store, discreetly go down the beer aisle, placing tracts in the top slot in beer cases. Leave a $1 Million Bill in the tube at the bank drive-through, and put one in the tip jar at Starbucks. Place $1 Million Bills sticking out of your shirt pocket, and people will ask you about them. How great to have lost people asking you for gospel tracts! Then as you lay your head on your pillow at night, there will be a deep sense of satisfaction knowing that you’re planting seeds that could result in someone finding everlasting life.

02/23/10 Meeting Follow Up: Band was rocking, Free Great Fun Evangelism Tools from Mark

This past Tuesday was great starting with Pizza and drinks (ONLY $!.00) then singing with music from the band. We sang a couple songs with the men joining the band and singing.

Then Mark was great to get us some very fun evangelism tools to hand out this week.

We then watched 'The Way of the Master III' which is really showing us how to use the commandments to get to speak past the intellect of persons.

Overcoming Fear: Breaking out of your Comfort Zone

02/23/10 Homework Assignment:
Say “HI” to 10 Strangers. You will be asked if you did it and what were your thoughts when you greeted the 10 strangers. Praise God we had 10 guys last Tuesday. That’s a 100% percent jump in attendance from my house. We went over our time of 830p because we had a special speaker. It was so great! We needed to hear an outside perspective of men seeking God's heart. But I promise my goal is to get everyone out by 830p. As long as we start on time.

Praise and Worship starts at 7p sharp to 720-725p.

Then we will get into the Way of The Master Part III video and homework.

Last week we had a special speaker Phil Mullen from Jasmine Baptist Church in Port Richey. Phil spoke in boldness and in direct reference to the desire for men to be ready to be used by God for His glory. The only way that can happen is we have to be in His word daily and hold each other accountable. Encourage each other to stay tuned to what God wants from us. “If you Love me, you will KEEP my commandments”.. Jesus said. Read the 10 Commandments
The word “ KEEP” is a military term, liken to a ROMAN sentry keeping WATCH.

A Roman guard is WATCHING in a diligent effort to keep the enemy from attempting a charge or attack. The same applies to a Christian. Diligently seeking His word and being an active part for the body.

I’m reminded in Psa 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Paul wrote in Philippians while he was in prison; Php 2:12 ….. work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Job experienced the voice of GOD and stated in Job 4:14 Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Job 4:15 Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: 4:16 It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying, Job 4:17

Shall mortal man be more righteous than God? Shall a man be more pure than his maker?
Notice this is reference to the first 2 commandments of God’s Moral Law. God reminded a troubled tired Job who He was and is today! He is a Righteous and Holy God that no man can see His face with out perishing. Why?

Cause we are corrupt and wicked. Which is why we're studying in order to share our faith with others.

How are you going to teach your wife and children the reverence and respect for the Creator if you don’t know them?

Mat 28:19 - Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 28:20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:.

I have lately realized that had I been taught to WATCH for the enemy early in my walk with Christ, I would be much further in my growth for Christ. While I can’t turn back the clocks, I can REPENT and move forward with my transformation by Rejoicing in the Riches and Glory of God’s will for man to come to him in reverence, accepting His love and mercy for you by trusting in Christ Jesus. After all He did it for you!

Major Evangelism Event: October 2, 2010

Hot Rod Auto Show on Life Path Christian Center's 10 acre property. 400 cars are expected. They're going to need our help in coordinating this huge event. There's plans for a prayer tent and hopefully nick or eddie will plan on having the praise and worship music. This could be a great fundraiser opportunity selling popcorn and hotdogs as well. Any other ideas are welcome!

02/16/10 Meeting: Way of the Master Part II, Guest Speaker

We’re now having all the men's meeting at the church property on Tuesdays 7pm. This is a time for discipleship and a time for fellowship. Praise and worship will begin at 7pm. Munchies are being served at 6:45pm. We started last week a video course (Way of the Master with Kirk Cameron http://www.wayofthemaster.com/) that teaches us how to share our faith. Based on mat 28:18-20 we are to "go" and make disciples and teach his commandments to all nations"
I think with our busy lives the "go" part is the stumbling block. It's an action word. Notice it's not a suggestion! Sometime in your journey there'll be a time that your faith will be questioned by others in your family and close friends. Perhaps a neighbor or client.

Being prepared to speak about our faith without coming across as a bible thumper can be challenging. It's possible you can have a positive loving conversation with atheist or agnostic. They may not get converted at the time of the conversation, but least i can drop some really good seeds and leave something for them to think about.
Role playing is vital to learning this technique. Barbara and i will practice in a restaurant waiting for our food to be served. She pretends to be the doubting unbeliever and i start the conversation about heaven and hell. It's fun and it's a good way to teach your wife about the word of god. Barbara will even rebuttal me and say "well my god is good and he'll forgive me of my sin. I'll just ask him to forgive me on judgment day" this is a common practice with a lot of people who know god's mercy but ignore his punishment for our violations of his moral law, called sin. This is good practice for me and who knows somebody might hear us talking about the lord. But repentance is the beginning of accepting Christ as a personal savior.
How do you know you need prescription medicine unless you know you’re sick. There's lots of sick people getting up every morning and they don't know it. The techniques taught in this video are the same techniques that our master used in his ministry to the common people of the area. Paul later used it with speaking to the Romans and in the Old Testament Nathan used when speaking to King David. James spoke the law regarding guilt.Good news; Tuesday night we are having a guest speaker that uses the "way of the master" technique in their church outreach evangelism and everyday work life. What kind of responses has he seen? How does he incorporate it in his work environment?

My goal is to prepare you for a conversation you may have with your family, friends or coworkers.

Band of Brothers talking about the issues of the lost and saved. Come and be disciple in the Word to share your faith with others and actually do Mat 28:18-20 as commanded by Jesus, "...Go out unto all nations... Teach what I commanded you." Are you battle ready to speak to someone about your faith? If your house was on fire and your family was in it, what kind of values or resources would you want the Firemen to have prior to coming to your home to save your families life? Does "Be Prepared" hit home in this scenario? Those same values are required of us as Christians. If your a Christian, you love. You love others and are concerned where they are going to spend eternity. If your tired of not being able to share the good news to the people you love in a effective manner. Come out on Tuesdays and learn the "Way of the Master" techniques. Actually see live video of normal people on the streets of New York, San Francisco, and others taking the GOOD PERSON test.
